Summer is here and we could not be happier. When the sun is shining there is no better time to open up your home, gather friends and family, and let the entertaining begin. Why not bring a bit of the season into your next long lunch, casual barbeque, or dinner party with a few of these really simple tips.

Statement Centre Pieces

There is so much you can do when it comes to flowers, especially in the warmer months. Don’t under estimate how impactful a gorgeous, well put together, assortment of flowers can be. It can totally transform a room and adds that chic edge to any event. Our favourite this season is a tropical arrangement. It’s really cost effective as the foliage lasts forever. An arrangement of green leaves and tropical flowers can last for weeks if the water is changed every couple of days. Make sure you select leaves of varying shapes, lengths, and textures. Keep your flower selection fairly streamlined. This season we recommend bright and bold colours like the pink Sweet Pea or Blue Hydragea, accompanied by a variety of tropical leaves and very minimalistic vase, to create the fresh summer vibe.

Dress to impress.

In the same way that you pull together a great outfit to create a statement, dressing your table should be no exception. For a more classic, luxe summer vibe we recommend a base of white plates paired with bold solid colours and uncomplicated patterns. Alternate the different side plates and bowls to freshen up the table and create a bit of visual interest. Brighten up your next dinner party with a bit of mixing and matching this season – very little effort can make a huge difference!

Did someone say alfresco?

One of the best things about summer is the opportunity to dine outside, alfresco. To get your outdoor spaces entertainment ready consider the following.

Nothing helps a party along more than some clever placement of furniture. Never does this apply more than in an outdoor environment. Strategic placement of tables and chairs can create the pre drink/cocktail area, with a natural progression to the dining space. Barbeques are great in the summer months. Create a zone around the barbeque to ensure the chef is not left on their own, and the beers and food can easily be consumed and transported to the right zones to keep the guests happy.

Embellish the outdoor spaces with tea lights and wood burners (for night) and use some of the existing elements of the garden; pot plants, urns, market umbrellas, to craft your great entertaining space.

Summer would not be summer without….

A garden party. And no garden party would be complete without a colourful cocktail to add a bit of fun and flavour to the occasion. This year we think that a Peach Margarita is the perfect drink to compliment your summer soiree. Fresh, cool and colourful. Even better, making it is too easy.
